Tabletop role-playing games are an essential part of Virtual Ropecon as well. In role-playing games, the players and the Game Master (GM) advance the game by creating the story together. The Game Master develops the plot and describes the game world in which player characters live. Players can affect the story via their characters by describing the actions and dialogue of their character in any given situation. Role-playing games often use dice to determine the outcome of players’ actions. In addition to local games where players and the GM gather together around the same table, tabletop role-playing games can also be played online via instant messaging apps and other online platforms.
