Role-playing games<\/h4>\n

Tabletop role-playing games are an essential part of Virtual Ropecon as well. In role-playing games, the players and the Game Master (GM) advance the game by creating the story together. The Game Master develops the plot and describes the game world in which player characters live. Players can affect the story via their characters by describing the actions and dialogue of their character in any given situation. Role-playing games often use dice to determine the outcome of players’ actions. In addition to local games where players and the GM gather together around the same table, tabletop role-playing games can also be played online via instant messaging apps and other online platforms.<\/p>\n

Signing up for role-playing games<\/h5>\n

Signing up for role-playing games at Virtual Ropecon is done via the Ropecon event on Warhorn<\/a>. In addition to online games, there is a limited number of games run at the Pasila library in Helsinki. You can sign up as a GM on Warhorn up until Virtual Ropecon begins on Friday. You can also run and sign up for spontaneous games on Ropecon’s Discord server throughout the convention weekend.<\/p>\n

Board games are also played online at Virtual Ropecon via BoardGameArena<\/a>. BoardGameArena is an online platform that can be used to play thousands of board games online, both old and new, and can be accessed from your internet browser.
